Masking Compounds
New Generation Masking Compounds
for Selective Case Hardening
Selective case hardening is one of the important processes in any heat treating industries. It is necessary when case hardness is not required and only core hardness is required at selective area.
Selective carburising of steel components has always posed problems. Some of the processes, such as copper plating or case machining involve enormous amount of time, effort and expenses to prevent carburising. It also involves post heat treatment operation such as removal of plating material or machining of excess material.
AstroMet AntiCarb developed to get rid of such processes, is a boon to heat treating industry, eliminating many process steps. It does not have limitation of job geometry to protect selective area as that of copper plating or masking of threads by nut. Unlike case machining method, there is no need to provide excess material, conduct double stage heat treatment operation and remove excess material. Use of AstroMet Anticarb also eliminates cumbersome process of copper plating and its removal by deplating or machining.
